The National Super Alliance (NASA) has announced that it will set up an independent presidential tallying centre during the August 8 General Election.
Speaking during a rally in Mathare, Nairobi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated that the centre would be electronic and would be used to count presidential votes for the upcoming polls.
Kalonzo castigated that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for cancelling a tender for the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System.
He maintained that the Alliance would not allow the election to be conducted using a manual system yet the Jubilee government claimed to be a digital administration.
At the same time, the Wiper chief dismissed reports linking him to quitting the Alliance, assuring that he was “strongly in NASA”.
The same was reiterated by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi who assured that all the leaders would remain united, adding that their main purpose was to eject the Jubilee government from power.
He called on NASA supporters to stand with the candidate who would be selected to fly the Coalition's flag and not bolt out if their preferred leader is not chosen.
ODM leader Raila Odinga who also addressed the meeting warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against disregarding the Constitution in his decisions.
He further asked the Head of State to cease attacking Governors citing the frequent verbal exchanges between Kenyatta and Mombasa County boss Hassan Joho.
