National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi Warns MPs Against Mocking Nomination Losers

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi on Tuesday warned Members of Parliament who won in the party primaries against mocking those who lost asking them to be kind instead.

Mr Muturi issued the warning soon after Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno hit out at Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkong’a for his initial loss especially after leading the House in making amendments to the Elections Act.

Mr Ngeno further sneered at Cherangany MP Wesley Korir who lost to his predecessor Joshua Kuttuny and alluded that the incumbent (Korir) had been rigged out.

"My brother Wesley was cooked. He had to remain where he was before. He was roasted by Jubilee," Ngeno implied.

The Speaker intervened and directed the legislators to observe the common courtesy of empathising with the losers.

"Even as you make references to what happened to your colleagues, do it with compassion. It is not good to be told to your face that you have been massacred, " urged the Speaker.

The Cherangany Parliamentarian was among the few legislators who attended the session after losing in the primaries, others included Mutava Musyimi (Mbeere South), Njoroge Baiya (Githunguri), Wanjiku Muhia (Nyandarua Woman Representative) and Mary Mbugua (Nakuru Woman Representative).
