National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi Moves to Quell Tension in NASA

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi has moved to quell tensions in the opposition outfit after disgruntled Wiper Party members claimed that Kalonzo Musyoka got a raw deal in the lineup announced last week.

Responding to comments by the National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze that the 'Kamba Nation' had been short-changed to play second fiddle to Raila Odinga, Mudavadi stated that those making noise were playing to the hands of Jubilee.

Mudavadi added that those complaining about their line-up for NASA ought to sacrifice their personal ambitions for the sake of the country.

"I ask our supporters and every Kenyan to give NASA a little of themselves for the sake of all of us. We must give meaning to Kenya Kwanza (Kenya first)," said Mudavadi.

He pointed out that the Raila-Kalonzo ticket ahead of the August polls was the winning ticket and all Kenyans including the affiliate parties who did not get the flag-bearer candidature should rally behind it.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader’s comments come in the wake of tensions after Nyenze, who was also a member of the National Coordinating Committee charged with identifying NASA’s flag-bearer, lamented that the ‘Kamba Nation’ got a raw deal.

Nyenze revealed that NASA’s announcement that they had settled on Raila as flag-bearer came as a shocker both to the party and their supporters who were expecting Kalonzo’s ascend to the top seat.

The Minority Leader noted that there was a bad feeling out after the declaration, noting that the expectations of the ‘Kamba Nation’ were thwarted.

“It’s not good to pretend things are in order when they are not okay...we need to consult and heal,” complained Nyenze.

Nyenze further revealed that the leaders would withdraw and deliberate on Thursday’s Uhuru Park declaration and report back to their supporters on the way forward.
