The five National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals have reportedly reached an agreement on how to form the Government if they win in the August 8 General Election.
Sources privy to the meeting by the five principals, Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Isaac Rutto (CCM), indicated that the leaders agreed to form a five-year transitional government after winning the August polls.
In the NASA transitional government, the President would only be allowed to run for one term and endorse another pentagon member for the 2022 presidential race.
Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savulla while speaking to the Star, stated that the move was aimed at returning the country to the path of growth and correct mistakes made by the Jubilee administration.
“NASA will focus on empowering wananchi (citizens), uniting people and building the nation,” Savulla stated.
The principals also reportedly decided to dissolve the NASA Coordinating Committee and the National Technical team and replace it with a team of experts who have been hired to finalise the agreement.
“The experts are helping our bosses reorganise the government and pick a flag bearer,” a source privy to the meeting stated.
The co-principals are expected to sign a power-sharing deal and unveil their line-up including the coalition's candidate on Thursday at a mega rally in Uhuru Park, Nairobi.
