Nyali MP Hezron Awiti's Ex-wife Demands Sh1.5 Million Monthly Maintenance

Mombasa Gubernatorial aspirant Hezron Awiti's has been sued by his ex-wife on accusations of neglecting his family.

The petitioner on Wednesday moved to Milimani Law Courts seeking Sh1.5 Million from the Nyali MP, as monthly maintenance for their twins.

In the application, the ex-wife accuses Awiti of refusing to cater for their children's school fees.

"I wrote a letter and informed him of the issues relating to school fees and money to cater for the children’s expenses but he refused to hear me." Awiti's wife stated.

The woman also demanded full custody of the young ones aged 14 alleging incidents of neglect, mistreatment and sexual harassment.

She claimed one of her daughters had complained of being sexually harrassed during her stay with Mr Awiti at their Mombasa home.

Awiti's wife further revealed that their daughter had run away from home claiming that she had been harrassed and was no longer comfortable in the house.

The couple separated in 2005 and have four children who have been living with the  MP since 2013.

The Nyali lawmaker has since denied the allegations maintaining that he would never allow such a behaviour in his home.

Awiti recently ditched the Wiper Party and joined the Democratic Party but insisted he was still supporting the Opposition.
