Nyatike MP Edick Anyanga Proposes Use of Negotiations in Migori ODM Nominations

Nyatike Member of Parliament Edick Anyanga has proposed quite a unique method of conducting the ongoing nominations as the political temperatures rise.

Anyanga on Friday urged Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga to use negotiations in settling on candidates who would fly the party's flag in counties prone to violence.

The legislator singled out Migori county noting that subjecting it to nominations through universal suffrage may lead to a potential fallout hence causing violence in the region.

Mr Anyanga also noted that the county had experienced violence in past nominations, thus it was necessary to avert any further chaos related to party primaries.

"With the level of tension on the ground since the last two years, primaries will definitely be chaotic. We don’t want fights in Migori. We need peace. We request for negotiations to see who will contest each of the seats," Anyanga stated.

The MP specifically singled out the governorship position noting that it should be the main agenda of the negotiations.

Mr Anyanga noted that the negotiations would settle all matters amicably and enhance a good relationship among the county leaders.

"This way, the winners of the tickets will be comfortable and will enjoy the goodwill of other aspirants," the MP noted.

The Migori County Gubernatorial race has attracted four candidates including; incumbent Governor Okoth Obado, former Rongo MP Ochillo Ayacko, former Sony Sugar boss Paul Odola and Anyanga's wife Anne Anyanga .
