Odinga Offers to Testify at the ICC

Deputy President William Ruto has received a pat on the back after nominated MP Oburu Odinga expressed his willingness to testify at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Speaking at a press conference, Odinga said he was willing to testify because he believes in Ruto's innocence. He alleged that the DP was definitely fixed by powerful authorities in the then Party of National Unity (PNU).

He further claimed that Ruto could not have planned the 2007/2008 post election violence since he was always with him.

“Some of us were with William Ruto on a daily basis immediately after the elections until the deal was signed with former President Mwai Kibaki. William Ruto never went home. I personally believe that William Ruto is actually innocent. As one of the people who was with William Ruto throughout that time, I am willing to testify if we are invited”, said Odinga

The new support came from an unlikely faction as Oburu is the elder brother to CORD leader Raila Odinga.

Pressure has been building up on the political corridors with Jubilee and Opposition leaders accusing each other for the woes facing Ruto.

This comes barely a week after the African Union wrote to the ICC requesting to be enjoined in the Kenyan case as a friend of the court.

Attorney General Githu Muigai has also requested to represent the government by submitting his interpretation on appealed Rule 68 which allows use of recanted evidence. However, Ruto and Joshua Sang's lawyers have contested the use of the rule on their cases.
