A private meeting between Deputy President William Ruto and top security officials held in Eldoret town has been questioned by Opposition leaders in the area who claimed a rigging plot was hatched.
The DP held a two-hour meeting with security officials in the region including County Commissioners and other administrators at Gulab Lochab Academy.
Members of the press were kept out of the meeting, only being allowed to take pictures before the meeting started.
This was not well received by ODM officials in the region as they protested, claiming that Ruto had met the security officials with an aim of influencing the ongoing voter registration exercise.
ODM officials led by coordinator Kipkorir Menjo questioned how the DP had arrived at a figure of how many votes President Uhuru Kenyatta would get, even though the voter registration process is yet to be completed.
"The DP has been saying they will win the elections by four million votes. They are giving figures, indicating they are tampering with the voter registration to favour Jubilee," Mengo stated.
Those in attendance, however, denied the claims made by ODM officials, insisting that Ruto had only called on the administrators to expedite the issuance of Identification Cards (IDs) in the region.
