ODM Releases 'Evidence' Linking Uhuru to Ruto's ICC 'Fixing'

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has echoed a previous statement by party leader Raila Odinga, that President Uhuru Kenyatta was well aware of Deputy President William Ruto's alleged implication in the International Criminal Court.

The Opposition released ten reasons explaining why they were confident that Kenyatta fixed Ruto, asserting that the nation ought to be told the truth about the whole matter and move away from politics of lies, misinformation and mere survival.

Here are the 10 reasons:

1. Moses Kuria had confessed that he procured and coached witnesses against William Ruto in 2008. At that time, Moses Kuria was an employee of President Kenyatta at the U.K Centre, Kenyatta's headquarter, where he conducted his political activities.

2. Moses Kuria claimed that Party of National Unity (PNU) funded the procuring and coaching of witnesses yet PNU bank accounts had been looted by its officials immediately after the elections and left broke. Therefore, the party had no money to conduct the exercise of procuring witnesses which the Gatundu South MP was engaged in. The money for procuring witnesses came from the U.K. Centre.

3. Former Director of Intelligence Michael Gichagi who was also Kenyatta's witness at the ICC, supplied the court with critical evidence against the DP. Gichangi who was working for Kenyatta, testified at the Hague-based court and gave a dossier that named and implicated Ruto.

4. Uhuru denied Ruto access to the evidence held by the National Intellegence Service which the DP wanted to use as his defense in the criminal charges.

5. President Kenyatta assented Rule 68 which allowed ICC Prosecutor to introduce recanted evidence something that has continuously posed great challenges to Ruto's case.

6. Since the collapse of Uhuru's case, Kenya resumed paying its dues to the ICC faithfully unlike when Uhuru's case was active.

7. The Jubilee government was devoted to have Kenya withdraw from the ICC before Kenyatta charges were dropped. The President even sponsored a motion at the African Union seeking for the same and went ahead to pay 1 Million US dollars to the AU to start the process. However, after his case collapsed he has never mentioned the issue.

8. During Kenyatta's New York visit last month, two lobby groups against Kenya's ICC cases sought audience with him to figure out if they could be of service to Ruto. However, Uhuru never granted them audience.

9. President Kenyatta replaced the High Commissioner for Kenya to The Hague. Ambassador Ruthie Chepkoech Rono (from Ruto’s Kalenjin Community) who was more  experienced diplomat with a junior diplomat, Ambassador Rose Makena Muchiri, (from Uhuru’s Kikuyu community).

10. After the charges against Ruto were confirmed, the P.N.U/Uhuru faction convinced Ruto that Karim Khan was the lawyer that would help him and that he should reject ODM’s offer of George Oraro who had managed to free Henry Kosgey. Until this day, Karim is paid by Uhuru Kenyatta and his government. And Ruto’s case keeps going from bad to worse.
