ODM Reveals Who Has Not Donated Funds Between Raila and Kalonzo

CORD Leader Raila Odinga's team has spoken out on allegations that either Mr Odinga or Kalonzo Musyoka did not donate their pledge to the teachers' solidarity account opened on Wednesday.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Officer, Philip Etale, dismissed claims that as of Thursday 7pm, the solidarity account launched by Raila only had Sh129, 501, noting that the two opposition leaders had indeed donated to the account.

“They announced they would donate, they were the first to donate. Anything contrary to this is malice,” Etale stated.

Mr Etale downplayed the information reportedly released by Safaricom, which indicated that there was less than Sh200,000 in the pay-bill account, terming it a creation of the media.

He further clarified that the amounts being collected through the M-Pesa paybill account, were not meant to pay teachers but rather to create a contingency account that would help the teachers' unions in their legal requirements as they battle in court for their pay.

The funds drive by CORD continues to create a tug of war pitting Jubilee legislators against their Opposition counterparts.

Jubilee legislators led by The National Alliance Chairman Johnson Sakaja faulted the initiative terming it a desperate move to get finances in preparation for 2017 elections.
