ODM to Solve Arising Issues Before Issuing Certificates to Nomination Winners

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Agnes Zani has stated that the party will resolve all arising disputes from the party nominations before issuing certificates to the winners.

Ms Zani also indicated that most counties had completed their primaries well and that the National Elections Tribunal Board would resolve the disputes that emerged during the nomination process.

She further alluded that the certificates would be issued on May 3 at Bomas of Kenya.

While addressing supporters of Taita Taveta governor John Mruttu, who had camped at the Orange House demanding the ODM ticket, Zani urged the group to be patient for the party to come up with a solution to the matter.

"Staying here will not yield any result, we need to sit down and have a way of addressing issues in our party.

"Let every camp nominate five people each and find a solution. Let us be patient as the party solves the issues," Zani stated.

On Monday, Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadeghu stormed the ODM headquarters demanding to be issued the winner's certificate after stating that he had beaten his rival Mr Mruttu in the party primaries.

"I am here with my supporters to pick my certificate because I beat Mruttu in the primaries," he emphasised

This new revelation comes at a time the party is under pressure from various aspirants who have petitioned the National Elections Board to nullify results in their respective counties citing massive irregularities during the process.

Meanwhile, another crisis is looming after Migori Governor aspirant Ochillo Ayacko obtained a court order to stop the announcement of ODM nominations results in Migori County.

Mr Ayacko approached the Appeals Tribunal claiming that the nominations exercise was not credible, free and fair.

However, the returning officer went against the order and went ahead to declare the incumbent governor Okoth Obado as the winner.
