Onyango Oloo Says State House Called and Offered Him Appointment After Defecting to CORD

Former TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo on Friday claimed that State House unsuccessfully tried to convince him to stay in the party after he officially announced his defection to the Opposition.

Speaking during a radio interview, Mr Oloo divulged that he received phone calls from State House promising him a lucrative appointment.

"I received several phone calls from State House imploring me not to defect, but I told them I had made up my mind. They even tried to entice me with [an] undisclosed big appointment, which I declined," Oloo said.

Mr Oloo also rubbished Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri's claims that he was involved in corruption during his tenure as Chairman of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA).

The former staunch supporter of President Kenyatta accused Kiunjuri of a plot to sell the mega Lake Basin Mall to his relative.

"The minister was shocked to see the mega project in Luoland. It is the only mega-project in East and Central Africa owned by the government. They now want to auction it to their kin and have already found buyers," Oloo alleged.

Mr Oloo added that he was even ready to battle Kiunjuri in court.

He questioned the authenticity of Kiunjuri's claim pointing out: "If you have a scandal do you run to the government for protection or you move out of the government?"

"If this is the trend by Jubilee that your scandals are only unmasked when you leave them then how many scandals do we have in Jubilee that are still hidden under the carpet? If I were a thief I would not have moved from government even if I was made a sweeper," Oloo remarked.
