Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Voters in Kakamega Vote Out Three Members of Parliament

Voters in Kakamega have rejected and sent home three Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Members of Parliament (MPs).

The three, Andrew Toboso (Butere), Silverse Anami (Shinyalu) and Raphael Otaalo of Lurambi were rejected by their respective constituents in the ODM party nomination exercise.

The MPs however vowed to appeal the Saturday nominations outcome claiming that the outcome had been manipulated.

According to Silverse Anami (Shinyalu), Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya interfered with the primaries in favor of his competitor Mr Justus Kizito.

Mr Anami claimed that the scheme by Governor Oparanya involved the delay in delivery of ballots to polling stations in his stronghold.

He alleged that the delay was a deliberate scheme to disadvantage him against his competitor and resulted in the defeat.

A point that was echoed by Raphael Otaalo (Lurambi) who also claimed that voters in his strongholds were locked out of the primaries after the ballot papers arrived in polling stations late.

The three vowed to lodge appeals to overturn the results over alleged irregularities in the nominations.

They pointed out that the primaries were poorly organised citing delays in delivery of election materials in their constituencies.
