Over 100 Drunk Men Raid Home of Gatundu South Aspiring MP Kung'u Kibathi

A relative to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday night became the subject of an attack by drunken youth who wanted to punish him for political reasons.

The over 100 youth raided the home of Gatundu South Parliamentary aspirant Kung’u Kibathi and started hurling stones.

According to Triza Waruiru, Kibathi’s sister who witnessed the entire incident, family members were in their living room watching TV when they heard noises near their home.

They then moved out of the compound and were shocked to see a rowdy group that was approaching their gate, some of them in motorbikes.

Kibathi’s relatives quickly rushed to their house and switched off the TV and their security lights.

“The youth were shouting MK Tosha” and asking “Ako wapi tumuue (Where is he so that we kill him)?”, she recalled.

“It is then that they started pelting the house with stones. I called my mother who was asleep and screamed to attract neighbours, who came immediately,” Waruiru explained.

Waruiru added that while as nobody was injured, her two children had been left traumatised by the attack that left a number of their bedroom windows shattered.

The family has linked the attack on Kung’u's  political rivals in the race to get the Jubilee party ticket, ahead of the August 8 General Election.

Kung'u who in December 2016 announced his bid to replace incumbent Moses Kuria, is a grandson of Chief Kibathi Gitangu and a relative of the Kenyatta family.
