The County Management and Disaster unit, through the Council of Governors, has released emergency response numbers in all the 47 counties ahead of the forecasted El Nino rains, in a bid to properly prepare for any eventualities.
The disaster unit has been working closely with counties putting in place measures to alleviate the effects of the predicted disaster set to hit the country.
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero assured residents that emergency teams were already established in all sub-counties within the city to ensure minimal damage to property and life.
Earlier this month, US-based National Centers for Environmental Prediction, reported that the Kenyan Coast would start experiencing extreme weather that would last till December and further warned Kenyans that the rains would be fatal.

The Government has since allocated Sh5 Billion from its contingency fund and asked counties to do the same so as to avert the effects of the rains.
Last month, Deputy President William Ruto stated that 70,000 National Youth Service personnel would also be dispatched to help in the recovery and evacuation processes.
As part of the preparation, Government also warned residents especially in the lower Tana, Nandi Hills and Central Kenya, specifically Murang’a County of mudslides and started the relocation process.
