CCTV footage recorded at a big mall in Nairobi County exposed a gang of seven that slyly entered a shop and stole goods worth Ksh100,000.

The incident, which was reported at Runda Police Station, occurred on Sunday when the gang entered the liquor store disguised as normal customers.

One of the suspects monitored the two employees who were at the store at the time while another male gave liquor to women to hide beneath the dress.

In the first instance, one of the ladies wearing a baggy dress was handed a bottle of liquor valued at Ksh44,000, quickly hid it and walked out of the store.

In subsequent theft, more women were given alcoholic drinks ranging from beers before walking out of the store.

The shop's owner, who spoke to the press, indicated that the gang made its way out of the shopping mall quickly before exit security could be notified.

"They were four men and three ladies but they were to steal. When they were going around, we had two staff, one at the cashier and another on the floor," the owner narrated.

"(The suspect) took one bottle while being shielded by another gang member. It was a cognac of Ksh44,000. The lady hid it in her dress and left."

The incident comes as cases of blatant shop robberies continue to afflict Kenyan cities, especially in Nairobi and Mombasa.

At the beginning of April, police officers successfully recovered gaming equipment thugs had stolen from the gaming lounge owned by Anthony Mwenda Kinoti, the son of former Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.

Mwenda, at the time, confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that the break-in occurred on the evening of Monday, April 1, when the thugs tricked the building's security guard.

"There are some people who came yesterday at around 6:00 am. They came in a black X-trail and parked along City Park along Biashara Street," Mwenda stated.

"One of them alighted the car, surveyed the building, and waited for the security officer to open the backdoor and the gang entered.
