Kitui Rural Member Parliament Charles Nyamai is a troubled man after his car was seized by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

It is alleged that the legislator failed to produce documents of his red Range Rover with the registration no. KBQ 904Z.

Nyamai is accused of using a fake registration number for his luxurious car.

According to a KRA officer, the number plate belonged to a Land Rover pickup that supposedly did not belong to the lawmaker.

“We want him to come over and explain his case, how the number plate ended up on this car whose ownership is also a mystery,” the officer was quoted by the Star.

KRA records further indicated that Mr Nyamai had also failed to pay custom duty for his fuel guzzler.

Commanding Officer at Kenya Railways Police Station , Esther Chacha confirmed that the MP's vehicle was towed to the station on Thursday.

Ms Chacha stated that she wrote to KRA to accelerate the case in order to give more space to incoming vehicles at the station.

The incident comes barely two weeks after the taxman released a list of 124 vehicles suspected to have illegally made their way into the local market under the disguise of transit goods, and later sold to unsuspecting customers.
