Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua and Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba were crowned the Social Governor and Social Legislator winners respectively in the 2015 Social Media Awards (SOMA).
The two leaders scooped the awards in the annual event that seeks to celebrate the growing influence by and through social media in Kenya.
The Machakos Governor was contesting against other colleagues including; Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Mombasa's Ali Hassan Joho and his counterpart from Kiambu County William Kabogo Gitau.
The Budalangi MP was in competition against other legislators including Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Nominated Senator Naisula Lesuuda.
Other winners in the SOMA awards were Chairman of Student Organization of Nairobi University's (SONU) Babu Owino who was voted as the most influential student leader while the popular boy-band Sauti Sol won the instagram personality award.
