A Muslim lady was left with deep scars on her face after she was assaulted by a caucasian lady at a restaurant in Minnesota, USA.
Asma Mohammed Jama, was having dinner with her two children and cousin at Apple Bees Restaurant while speaking in Swahili, when a woman in the next table began looking at her suspiciously.
The caucasian, Jode Burshard-Risch, approached them and requested them to speak in English.
“She (Jode) got abusive verbally and staff in the restaurant tried to intervene unsuccessfully,” said Paul Sommer a commander in Anoka County Sheriff's office.
It was then that Ms Jode Burshard-Risch got angry and hurled a beer mug on Ms Jama's face causing her deep wounds on her lower lip, cheek and eyebows.
Ms Jama who had lived in the US for 15 years, claimed that she knew English but was more comfortable speaking in Swahili.
“I have to say that emotionally, that incident has destroyed me completely,” said Ms Jama.
The attacker who attempted to escape the scene was followed by restaurant staff who tipped off the police of her location.
Ms Burshard-Risch was charged in court with third degree felony and stands to face several years in Jail.
