The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) on Wednesday announced the dismissal of a Police Officer who was found to have used fake certificates to get recruited and served for 22 years.
Superitendent Nelson Omwenga Nyakundi is said to have used certificates belonging to another person. The forged documents indicated that he was in class eight at only 10 years old.
Investigations were lodged against Nyakundi after the Commission was told by members of the public and media that he had been fraudulent in his career.
The vetting panel also found out that Nyakundi had been using a different name while at his rural home.
The revelation was made as the NPSC made public the sacking of seven officers from the 31 names that had been withheld pending further probing.
The officers were linked to a number of cases including; corruption, forgery, human right abuses, smuggling, submission of fake bank and M-Pesa statement, criminal activities, unprofessional conduct and failure to provide documents or information required by the Commission.
NPSC cautioned that "passing the vetting does not preclude the Commission from taking action against officers, where it is established that certain crucial information was not available to the Commission at the time of making the determination".
