Police Confiscate Nation Media Group Journalist's Phone for Taking Photos of ODM Nomination Chaos

A Nation Media Group correspondent is crying foul after police in Jomvu, Mombasa County, allegedly snatched and confiscated her phone for taking photos of an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) primary exercise.

According to reports, the journalist - Winnie Atieno - was covering the ODM party primaries before the police pounced on her.

Atieno was reportedly taking photos and videos of the chaos that had broken out at the Kwashee polling centre in Jomvu.

The police who were manning the area were apparently not pleased with Atieno’s action and confiscated the phone.

The skirmishes at Kwashee were also replicated in Banglesh polling station after alleged supporters of one of the aspirants stormed and destroyed voting materials.

Elsewhere in the same county, Changamwe Member of Parliament Omar Mwinyi was arrested for disrupting the ongoing ODM party primaries.

The MP was apprehended after he allegedly stormed Bomu polling station with his supporters, causing chaos and destroying voting materials.

Omar Mwinyi is being held at Port Police Station in Mombasa.
