Popular Kenyan TV Host Quits

Kenyan TV host Sarah Hassan on Friday announced that she would no longer be hosting NTV's Discovery +254 due to changes in her life that forced her to relocate to Los Angeles, US.

The former Tahidi High actress informed her fans through her new website sarahhassan.com, that she finally got accepted to her dream school, New York Film Academy, where she had hoped to go since the dawn of her acting career.

“Early last year my fiancé, who was my boyfriend encouraged me to send in my application and I got accepted(YAAAAAAAYYY),” she wrote in part.

Ms Hassan expressed how grateful she was to her fiance Martin Dale, who had encouraged her to apply for the course at the Academy and was now with her in Carlifornia, after dropping everything to join her.

“To top it off when Martin, the love of my life, the amazing man who has supported me in everything I do, asked me to marry him, he also surprised me by getting two tickets to L.A, his and mine, he decided to move with me as I study and try to pursue my dream and I love him more for that,” read her post.

The award winning presenter, acknowledged that her dream was coming true, after years of appearing on local screens including her debut on Family Betrayal and later transitioned to Tahidi High, a TV series that boosted her acting career.

Ms Hassan who is an Acturial Science graduate, has several awards to her name, among them; Best Actress twice in a row at CHAT awards (2010 and 2011) in Kenya,  Best Actress again in 2014, for her role in the short film ‘Now That  You’re here’, which was part of the 48-Hour Film Challenge.

 In October 2015, Sarah and her co-host Charles Ouda, won the Best TV hosts at the Kalasha Awards for Discovery +254  and on December 6th, 2015, Sarah was voted The Best Journalist of The Year at the Swahili Fashion Week in Dar es Salaam.
