President Kenyatta In Juba to Witness Peace Deal Signing

President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived in Juba, South Sudan for a one-day official visit to attend an IGAD mini-summit.

The summit's main agenda is the peace process in the conflict ridden South Sudan.

President Salva Kiir is expected to sign a peace pact during the summit.

Kiir had refused to sign a peace deal last Monday during the IGAD meeting in Ethiopia.

He instead requested for a 15 day period to iron out outstanding issues, and is expected to append his signature on the peace pact during the Juba summit.

His counter part, Riek Machar signed the compromise peace agreement that will see the end of the 20 year old civil war that has led to the death of thousands and displacement of hundreds.

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister and IGAD chairperson Hailemariam Desalegn, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni and Sudan’s Omar Al-Bashir will also be attending the event.
