Pupils of Kenyatta Golf Course Academy Demonstrate Demolishing of Their School

Transport was paralysed along Mbagathi Road on Monday morning after pupils of Kenyatta Golf Course Academy blocked the busy road to protest the demolition of their school.

Photos capturing the scene showed some of the children sitting on their desks, which they used in barricading the road, while others remained standing.

Reports indicated the school was demolished over the weekend following a land dispute.

During the protest, the pupils led by their teachers and parents chanted: “We want our school, we want our school, we need to study in school!”

“I like my class and I like studying. They have now removed our class and there is no way we can study. All students want is to study,” one of the pupils lamented.

The parents expressed their frustration noting that they had already paid fees for the children

“It is easier when we are given notice because parents had already paid schools fees. Now we are in a fix because we did not have any notice,” one parent complained.

The teachers also expressed their fear that the demolition of the school had rendered them jobless and hence forcing them to look for another source of income.
