CORD leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday made several announcements at the Bomas of Kenya during the National Super Alliance (NASA) meeting.
Mr Odinga informed supporters that the planned mass demonstration over the controversial Election Laws had been postponed. He noted that this would be put on hold to allow for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) mass voter registration starting January 16, 2017.
Odinga urged the electorate to turn up and register as voters in order to ouster President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
"We will embark on a massive campaign to urge the people to register as voters. Kenya has been tested to the limit these last four years. It cannot stand another five years of Jubilee," he said.
In his address, the Opposition leader outlined four steps that would ensure Jubilee does not regain power, which include:
1. Registering as voters
2. Getting supporters to take keen interest in the compilation of the voter register to ensure it has accurate details
3. Voting on the election day
4. Protecting the votes.
The former Prime Minister boldly stated that the Opposition would make it extremely hard for the ruling Coalition to steal the August 8 Election.
"We will make it impossible for Jubilee to steal the votes, we have learnt our lessons. I want to tell Jubilee that the cost of stealing this election will be regrettable," Mr Odinga insisted.
The CORD leader urged supporters to make sure that a committee is formed around every polling station to ensure everyone is registered.
Odinga appealed to the delegates to ensure that IEBC does not carry out under-handed deal restricting them from registering.
He also promised the delegates that the party nominations would be free and fair urging them to remain in the coalition in case they lost.
"If you lose in nominations, don't worry. We are going to be in government and you will have something useful to do. We pledge to give everyone a fair chance to get the nomination for seats they desire," the Opposition Chief indicated.
