Raila: Ruto is a Villager Who Should Keep Off Nairobi Politics

ODM leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday went on the offensive against Deputy President William Ruto as the two leaders fought for the political control of Nairobi county politics.

Odinga stated that Ruto was a villager who had never been elected for any elective seat in Nairobi and therefore had no business commenting on the city's politics.

Yeye ni jogoo wa shamba ambaye hawiki mjini (he is a village cockerel that cannot crow in the city),” the ODM leader stated in reference to Ruto.

Odinga’s comments came a week after the DP hosted Nairobi Jubilee aspirants at his Karen residence.

Ruto called on the aspirants to have unity and agree on a team that will successfully deliver the Nairobi vote to the Jubilee vote basket.

Odinga dismissed the Jubilee’s plan, warning that ODM is the dominant political party in the city’s politics.

“I got more votes than Uhuru Kenyatta in the last elections. We also got more votes in the gubernatorial contest than the Jubilee candidate,” the former Prime Minister explained.

Odinga previously served as Lang'ata MP for two decades.
