REVEALED: Coach Nuttal's Extravagant Demands to Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia Football Club has come out to reveal what coach Frank Nuttall demanded leading to a fall out with the team's management.

In a press release signed by the club's Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala, Gor Mahia refuted earlier allegations by the Scottish tactician stating: “That statement (Nutall's) is inaccurate and it is important that we put the record straight”.

Gor Mahia revealed on Friday that Nuttal's demands were humongous and quite extravagant. The club added that it tried to strike a deal with the coach to no avail.

According to the statement, the 2015 Kenya Premier League Champions had renegotiated with Nuttal in December 2015 and agreed on a new proposal, after the management informed the coach that they could not afford the previous salary.

The club's new proposal outlined a 50-percent pay cut and a monthly house allowance of Sh120,000.

"Owing to the love I have for the Club and being aware of the financial constraints facing the Club, I considered and can now confirm that you can proceed to prepare the new contract as you have suggested.” Gor Mahia quoted Nuttal's previous email after the proposal.

The club sent the new contract to Nuttal while he was in Scotland, but was utterly shocked when he declined through his lawyer.

On 2nd February, 2016 the lawyer redrafted a new contract where Mr Nuttall now wanted a salary of Sh770,000 a house allowance of Sh250,000 a sturdy 4-wheel vehicle, numerous out of pocket allowances among others.

Gor mahia revealed the coach's lavish tendencies citing: “We offered him several 3 bed-room fully furnished apartments in Kilimani at rents between Sh120,000 and Sh150,000 per month, but he declined saying they were substandard”.

“As a result he lived at the Nairobi Serena where the club paid an average Sh600,000 per month. At the end of the season, the Executive Committee delegated the Senior Vice Chairman TO RENEGOTIATE Mr. Nuttal’s emoluments.” the statement read in part.

The 47-year old, who was signed by the team in September 2014, was the highest paid football coach in the country taking home about Sh600,000 per month.

During his two-year stint, Gor Mahia won two consecutive KPL titles, finishing 2014/15 season unbeaten and winning the trophy with the highest record points, 78.

Under his stewardship, the European Football Associations licensed coach also guided the club to winning the League Cup, the KPL Top 8 Cup and took the team to the finals of Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) championship.

Following his sacking, Gor Mahia club supporters took to social media to vent their anger on the team's management.
