Details of Hospitalised VIP Patient People Thought was Ruto

New reports now indicate that indeed a patient was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday night before social media went ablaze with rumours that it was Deputy President (DP) William Ruto.

It is reported that sources at the hospital confirmed an influential personality was admitted to the Very Important Persons (VIP) section but his identity was not immediately established.

The hospital reportedly refused to divulge the nature of the illness since information on high-profile patients is not entered in the facility's records.

According to a report by the Nation, there was heavy security presence at the medical facility on the said night with members of the public being denied access to part of the hospital where the patient was taken.

Workers at the hospital are said to have described the patient as 'red blanket', a term used to refer to a situation when a patient is directly transferred from an ambulance to a theatre without following any procedures.

However, the security situation went back to normal on Thursday even as reports flared that Ruto had collapsed at his home and taken to the facility.

The rumour was later proved to have been a hearsay after a fit Deputy President appeared accompanying President Uhuru Kenyatta during the launch of development projects in Mandera County.

Controversial blogger Robert Alai was highly condemned for purporting that the patient was indeed DP Ruto, claiming that sources at the Nairobi Hospital had confirmed to him.

The claims were further rubbished by a staffer at Ruto's office who told Kenyans.co.ke that the Deputy Head of State was fine and had left for an official duty.
