A section of Opposition leaders have threatened to boycott the State of the Nation Address by President Uhuru Kenyatta set to take place at the National Assembly on Thursday.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders are said to have held a meeting to deliberate on how they would express their discord with the President for failure to tackle the graft menace.
In the meeting reportedly conducted on Wednesday evening, some of the MPs are said to have favourited the idea of walking out as Uhuru's address continued or failing to show up at Parliament buildings.
ODM Chairman John Mbadi expressed that the party was disappointed in how the Head of State had effected anti-corruption measures which he passionately announced during last year's meeting.
“ODM is not at all enthusiastic about the next State of the Nation address scheduled for today if the past of this ceremony is a precedent,” he indicated.
He added that the Party would come up with ways to ensure that the event scheduled for Thursday afternoon did not 'degenerate into public relations and empty rhetoric by the President'.
Earlier on, Jubilee leaders had indicated that their CORD counterparts were planning to mobilize thousands of their supporters to Kibera where they would hold a parallel address.
During the 2015 address, the President received a standing ovation after a tough talk on corruption, expressing that stringent measures would be taken to curb the vice.
However, the Opposition leaders said the issues Kenyatta talked about last year were never addressed, hence they did not expect anything different from the President.
