Deputy President William Ruto has publicly spoken on the tweet that linked him to the assassination of businessman and Jubilee critic Jacob Juma.
During an interview on Citizen TV, the DP was put on the spot to explain one of Mr Juma's tweets which indicated that he (Ruto) was planning to kill him.
"The person who is obsessed with plans to kill me is William Ruto. I am aware about it. I know that my assassination was planned on Tuesday [sic]." Juma's tweet read.
The Deputy President rubbished the claims and firmly stated: “I want to tell Kenyans that I have nothing to do with anything to do with the life or death of Jacob Juma”.
Ruto added that he was also looking forward to when the murderers of Juma would be apprehended.
“As sure as the sun is going to rise tomorrow, that the killers of Jacob Juma will be brought to book. I am hoping that they will be brought to book and that they will be known,” Ruto stated.
He also revealed that the police had not questioned him regarding the death of the business mogul.
"When the police want a statement from me I will give it freely. They have not asked me for a statement," Ruto said.
He further challenged former lawmaker Cyrus Jirongo to come out on national television and explain his allegations that linked him (Ruto) to the businessman's assassination.
The DP added that the Opposition was picking on him as a 'punching bag' by connecting him to issues he knew nothing about.
Ruto highlighted a case when Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula had domestic issues with his wife and online reports linked him to the woes.
"I have become the Opposition's punching bag. In fact, the other day when Moses Wetangula had problems with his wife and he went to report at the police station. One of the newspapers wrote and said Wetangula's wife was seen in my office before they went and fought. I do not know Wetangula's wife and that is the Opposition for you," Ruto said.
