Ruto Now Risks Losing Weston Hotel

Deputy President William Ruto may lose Weston Hotel if the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) repossess the land on which the hotel is built.

It is reported that KCAA has asked the National Land Commission (NLC) to review several parcels of land including two acres in Lang'ata area opposite the Wilson Airport, and annul illegal ownership.

According to the Aviation Authourity, it is enjoined alongside the Land Commission in a constitutional petition challenging illegal allocation of the hotel's land in court.

“We lodged a formal complaint requesting your commission’s intervention to facilitate issuance of title documents for KCAA properties by commencing investigations to establish legality of all grants in respect of KCAA parcels of land, with a view to revoking any illegal allocations,” the Star quotes a letter by the Authority to NLC.

The controversy surrounding the land began last year when pupils at Lang'ata Primary School protested the alleged grabbing of their playground, which lies beside the Weston Hotel.

The alleged grabbing was linked to Weston owners, including the Deputy President who is on record admitting possession of shares in the establishment.
