Ruto Reveals Doctors Ultimatum That Forced Him Fly To South Africa

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto explained why he sought treatment in South Africa after jetting back in the country on Friday evening.

Ruto divulged that he arrived at the decision due to time constraints after doctors informed him that they had to perform a surgery in seven days.

“After discussion with doctors in Nairobi, they advised me on ways to seek treatment either in India, South Africa, America or Europe. They asked me to make the decision rather quickly because they had to do it within seven days,'' Ruto stated.

The Bomet Governor stated that he enjoyed some of the light moments on Facebook after leaving the country for treatment but maintained his injury was serious.

“I also enjoyed the light moments when I saw some joking with Elastoplast on social media. It was a good idea to symbolise that we should not joke around with police brutality against other Kenyans."

“I was hurt by an unleaded canister that was unfortunately thrown at me by a police officer. I broke a number of bones under my eye. If you were to look at the X-ray report, you would see a mess of bones," Ruto affirmed.

The Governor claimed that he was hit by a tear gas canister on his face during a football match at Silibwet Stadium by police officers.
