Senator, Cabinet Secretary Accused of Conspiracy

A section of leaders from Kirinyaga County have launched scathing attacks at Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura and Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia for allegedly conspiring to divert a road construction.

Addressing Journalists in Nairobi, the leaders from the greater Kirinyaga region accused the two, who hail from Murang'a County, of diverting a plan for a dual carriage road to Murang'a.

“The issue of the road is suspicious because the person who is fighting for the road so hard is Senator Kembi Gitura and the CS Macharia is also from the same county,” expressed Gichugu MP Njogu Barua.

“Let us know whether there is a conspiracy against the other people,” he added.

According to the leaders, the road whose construction is underway, was supposed to begin from Kenol junction towards Makutano then connect to Kirinyaga and other neighbouring counties.

Kirinyaga County Governor Joseph Ndathi termed the decision to divert the road as impunitive since it would hurt the economy of the region.

These subsequent accusations come a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta directed the diversion of the Kenol-Sagana-Marwa dual carriageway to Murang’a town, during his recent tour of the region.
