Sh380 Million Kirinyaga Project in Limbo After Court Rules Kerugoya is the Headquarter

The Kirinyaga County Government has suffered a major setback after the High Court on Wednesday ruled that the multimillion project of moving headquarters from Kerugoya to Kutus was illegal.

Area Governor Joseph Ndathi and seven of his supporters had sought to question the legality of a gazette notice that established Kerugoya as the headquarters instead of recognising Kutus where the County Government has been operating.

Ndathi had already commissioned the construction of a Sh380 Million complex that would house the county headquarters and the project was in its last stages.

The judge stated that the petition challenging the status of Kerugoya had no merit, adding that Kerugoya was the official headquarters for Kirinyaga County.

The court ruling has caused confusion with residents in Kutus wondering what the fate of the office project would be.

Efforts by Kenyans.co.ke to seek a comment from the area governor were futile as calls to him went unanswered.
