Slovakian Envoy Dies After Collapsing in Nairobi Office

A top official of the Slovak government died on Tuesday evening while at his office in Nairobi.

The envoy, 65-year old Vabel Michael, is said to have collapsed at the embassy premises located in Nairobi's Milimani area and later passed on.

Reports indicate that his body was taken to the mortuary on Wednesday morning for a postmortem to be conducted.

Confirming the incident, Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome divulged that the cause of the death was unclear but added that investigations into the matter were being conducted.

"It is not clear what caused the death but a postmortem exercise will reveal more on the same," he stated.

The Slovak Head of State Andrej Kiska in February became the first President of the country to visit Kenya.

During the four-day tour, Kiska and President Uhuru Kenyatta held bilateral talks at State House on enhancing trade ties between the two countries by having Kenyan goods in the Slovak market.
