Soda Kills Kenyan Woman in Uganda

A Kenyan woman died last Saturday while being rushed to hospital after supposedly consuming food and drinking soda served at a colleague's party in Wakiso Town, Uganda.

Florence Adhiambo who was an assistant supervisor at Aurum Roses in Entebbe, is said to have began complaining of stomach aches before collapsing abruptly.

A friend of the deceased said that Ms Adhiambo was told by a manager not to miss the evening party which was a celebration of a collegue's promotion.

The host had invited specific collegues but it is however unclear whether Ms Adhiambo was among them.

In a twist of events, it was revealed that the deceased had allegedly suffered another plot to poison her earlier but reported the threat to the company bosses where it was “resolved administratively”.

Despite hospital reports saying that Ms Adhiambo had died of internal bleeding, her relatives said the explanation was unsatisfactory and insufficient.

Ms Adhiambo's family members picked the body from the hospital mortuary and transported it to Kisumu for a burial which was held on Friday.

Attempts to contact the company where the deceased worked were futile.

On Thursday, officers at the Kisubi police station launched investigations into the mysterious incident.
