Student Dies and 7 Others in Critical Condition after Drinking Methanol

A form four student at Seiyot Secondary School in Uasin Gishu County has died after a group of students consumed methanol.

Some students were rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret after they began vomiting heavily.

Seven students, who are all in form one, are said to be in critical condition but investigations are underway to establish what exactly transpired.

The area OCPD Tom Achai said that the full statement on the incident will be release after full investigations have been completed.

Secondary schools have recently been in the spot light after several incidents of misconduct in relation to sex, drugs and violence.

Kenyans have raised concerns about the easy access of drugs and alcohol to students and are urging the government to charge and prosecute vendors who sell to minors.
