A man’s life came to a cruel and unexpected end in Kirinyaga County when an angry mob descended on him, beating him till he breathed his last.
According to the incensed crowd, the man had stolen a motorbike from a boda boda rider and later killed him in Kimicha village, Mwea.
Reports indicate that the suspect was tracked using his mobile phone.
According to Citizen News, residents say that while the man lived in Nyandarua, he had rented a house in Embu to serve as a hide out for every time he committed a crime.
A man of cloth from the area tried to plead with the mob not to kill the man, if only to give him a chance to be proved guilty or not as per the law but his request fell on deaf ears.
“Mob justice” is illegal according to the Kenyan law but this has not stopped members of the public to deal with suspects they believe have committed crimes.
In almost all cases of these mass beating and sometimes torching, the suspects end up dead.
