Secretary General of Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Akello Misori has issued a directive to all teachers stating that the strike would continue, despite the court order issued today.
Misori said that the teachers' strike should go on until the unions meet and agree on the way forward.
This came moments after the court ruling by Justice Nelson Abuodha that ordered teachers to go back to class and suspend the strike for 90 days.

The decision was a directive aimed at giving the two parties room for negotiations and consultations.
In his ruling, Justice Nelson Abuodha noted that if the reconciliation talks failed within the 90 days, teachers could move ahead and lodge a trade dispute.
Abuodha however, stated that teachers had a right to strike after the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) failed to follow the courts directive to pay them a 50-60 per cent salary increase.
In the same ruling, Justice Abuotha ordered TSC to pay teachers their September salaries and allowances adding that the teachers' employer should find an arbitrator within 30 days for the commencement of discussions.
The industrial action by teachers has paralysed learning in public schools for four weeks with the peak being the closure of all schools by Goverrnment.
