Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa on Friday announced that he had abandoned the Jubilee Party and joined Martha Karua's Narc-Kenya.
In a press briefing, Governor Ragwa stated that the lack of transparency in President Uhuru Kenyatta's led party was the main reason behind his move.
"We will defend our seats through Narc-Kenya because there is no transparency in Jubilee," he said.
Deputy Governor Eliud Mati and some Members of County Assembly (MCAs) also defected from Jubilee together with the Governor.
Ragwa made his move public after a morning meeting with Ms Karua who is eyeing the Kirinyanga gubernatorial seat.
At the same time, Migori Senator Wilfred Machage on Friday decamped from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party to join the Democratic Party (DP).
Speaking in Nairobi during a press conference, Mr Machage noted that he would be vying for the Kuria parliamentary seat in the August 8 election on a Democratic Party (DP) ticket.
