There is No Plot to Assassinate Joho - Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki Says

Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki has accused Governor Ali Hassan Joho of causing unnecessary tension in the Coast region after his recent assassination remarks.

Speaking on Monday during a mass voter registration campaign, Joho alleged that the government was plotting to execute him and some Opposition leaders.

Mr Achoki on Wednesday refuted the claims stating that the government can not kill any of the leaders irrespective of their political affiliations.

“Some of these statements, when they are made like that in public, are meant to create unnecessary tension. There is no government which can sit and plan to eliminate leaders and those statements are not true,’’ the County Commissioner affirmed.

Mr Achoki added, “If there is a leader who feels there is a threat to his life, the law requires them to report the matter to the nearest police station for investigations.”

The County commissioner also warned Joho to stop making unsubstantiated claims that could plunge the County into chaos as the country heads towards the General Election.

The Mombasa Governor is also on record sensationally claiming that the government was planning to use the new bodyguards he rejected to spy on him.

Joho claimed that the Government intended to use the same officers to plant illegal guns in his house.

"I have rejected the State bodyguards because I had reliable information Jubilee was planning to plant illegal guns in my residence and spy on me using such officers. I would rather protect myself than allow these people to stay around me," Joho stated.
