These Head Teachers are Now in Trouble with Gov't

As schools re-open this week, head teachers and principals whose schools have hiked fees will face disciplinary action.

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang instructed County Directors of Education in all the 47 Counties to forward before Monday, the names of schools overcharging parents.

The Education PS directed the officers to include fee structures issued by schools for 2016 and other levies charged on students.

Deputy President William Ruto also weighed in on the matter stating that school heads who flout the fees stipulated by the government would be disciplined appropriately.

In his letter to the county officers, the Education PS highlighted that boarding schools had a fee ceiling of Sh53,544, while that of day schools was Sh9,374 and Sh37,210 for special needs schools.

According to a report by Citizen TV, some of the schools defying the fees set by the government include; Moi Girls High School (Eldoret), Pangani Girls, Kitondo Secondary (Makueni), Ribe Boys High School, Mayori Secondary School among others.
