Tiaty MP Asman Kamama Nearly Lynched by Angry Residents

Tiaty MP Asman Kamama on Saturday escaped death by a whisker when a group of residents in his constituency attempted to lynch him.

Kamama, who is one of the officials spearheading President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election, was at Churo trading centre when an angry crowd confronted him over the death of an MCA, Kibet Cheretei and ODM parliamentary aspirant Pepe Kitambaa.

The group demanded Kamama to reveal the names of the gunmen who killed the two politicians, and when he declined, they threatened to shoot poisonous arrows at him.

A section of the mob was also reported to have lit a fire, ready to lynch the legislator.

Fortunately, Kamama and his bodyguards managed to take cover at Tangulbei secondary school where he was reportedly rescued by security officers from Chepkalacha police post.

“We cannot allow him to address us while our neighbouring Tugen community is mourning losing deaths of their people", one of the residents was quoted by The Star.

Kamama, who is from the Pokot community, had been linked to the killing of the two politicians but has since denied the reports.
