Love was certainly in the air in 2016!

While a lot of ups and downs were witnessed across various sectors, in the love department the fire was kept constantly burning. Some of your most favourite couples seized an opportunity in the last 12 months to say 'I Do'.

1. Michael Njenga

Citizen TV news anchor Michael Njenga bid farewell to bachelor life in January 2016, when he got married to his fiancee Phoebe Wanjiku at a colourful ceremony held at the PCEA Evergreen Church in Runda, Nairobi.

2. Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore

On April 2, 2016, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore married his partner, Ms Wambui Kamiru, at an exclusive purple and white-themed ceremony in the upmarket Kitsuru estate.

3. Daddy Owen

In April, gospel singer Daddy Owen quit the bachelor’s club after he said ‘I Do’ to his longtime sweetheart Farida Wambui at an invite-only black tie ceremony held at Kenya Assemblies of God Church in Buru Buru.

4. Wilson Sossion

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion tied the knot with his sweetheart Vivianne Kenduiywa in a simple ceremony held at the Attorney-General’s Chambers in Nairobi in April.

5. Nyota Ndogo

In May, Popular coast-based songstress Nyota Ndogo finally tied the knot with her Danish fiancé Henning Nielsen in a wedding that was a two-day affair. Two different ceremonies, in Islamic and Swahili, were held at their home and Rosewood Hotel, both in Voi.

6. Sharon Mundia

In November, popular fashion blogger Sharon Mundia, popularly known as This is Ess, got married to her longtime fiance Lonina Letaipan at a beautiful beach wedding in Watamu, Kilifi.

7. Jomo Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son Jomo got off the bachelor’s market in October after marrying his long-time girlfriend in a cultural Kikuyu wedding.

8. Eunice Njeri

Gospel singer Eunice Njeri tied the knot with rapper Isaac Bukasa alias Izzo Raps at a sole wedding held in the US.

9. Comedian Njugush

Comedian Njugush, born Timothy Kimani, married the love of his life Celestine Ndinda in an invite-only event that was held at the PCEA Evergreen in Runda, Nairobi.

10. Benachi

Lastly, gospel sensation Benachi of the Mwanake hit song tied the knot with his long time girl, Joan on December 20th at a beautiful ceremony in the United States.
