Popular Supermarket retailer Tuskys Supermarket has shut down its popular Beba Beba Branch along Tom Mboya street after 11 years of operation, becoming the second branch of the supermarket to close down this year.
Tuskys on Tuesday morning stated that the owner of the Bank of Baroda building, which was housing the branch, had sold off the property to another developer who wants to re-design the premises to host smaller shops, hence, the decision to close the Beba Beba outlet.
“The Bank of Baroda has informed us that they have sold the property. The new owner has notified us of their intent to redevelop the property. Consequently, we have to close business on that location effective May 2,” Tuskys stated in a statement.
The Supermarket's Chief Executive, Dan Githua, confirmed the closure on Twitter, adding that the branch's 104 employees would be absorbed by the other branches in the country.
.@TuskysOfficial family sad today to have to lose Beba Beba branch. It was much more than just a branch. Nostalgic!

Tuskys, which is the second largest supermarket in Kenya after Nakumatt, now has 53 branches in Kenya after the closure of the Express branch along Sheikh Karume Road in March due to low sales.
