Uhuru and Ruto's JAP to be Dissolved

A new political party that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto will use in the coming elections is set to be formed soon.

This is according to Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi, who also revealed plans to dissolve the Jubilee Alliance Party which was formed recently for the next elections.

“Since the name ‘Jubilee’ has become popular and a brand, it might be retained in the new outfit, ” Murungi said.

The Senator in charge of the merging process of all parties affiliated to JAP, told Nation that he had met with the President and his Deputy concerning the matter, and that they would later explain the structure of the new party.

Murungi also said that they had up to December to form the new political vehicle for Kenyatta and Ruto come 2017 elections.

Until Saturday, it was well known that the leaders of the Jubilee Government would run for the top seats on JAP tickets.

However, on the coalition's turn of events Murungi said, “We need to merge and consolidate into one party for faster and rapid transformation of the country. We have since met political parties’ leaders and we shall soon be meeting the parties’ national executive committees.”

The Meru Senator who is also the leader of Alliance Party of Kenya(APK) was faulted for abandoning the party by a section of the members led by Meru Governor Peter Munya.

Munya said that joining one party before the elections was a move taking Kenyans back to a one-party state.

Governor Munya added that remaining in a different party was not compromising the region's support for the President and his Deputy in the coming elections.
