President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally granted former Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru a comeback to the Government, this time, placing her at the helm of the highest office in the land.
Ms Waiguru, who left government at the height of a political storm, has been appointed as the Director of the President’s Economic Schedule and Agenda, a newly created office at State House.
The former Devolution Minister will be mainly charged with coordinating economic policy advice for the president, as well as policy making for domestic and economic issues.
Ms Waiguru shall further be expected to ensure that policy decisions and programs are consistent with the Head of State’s economic goals.
In a clear indication of how powerful she might be in the Jubilee Administration, the Ex-Cabinet member has been tasked to monitor implementation of President Kenyatta’s economic policy agenda.
Waiguru’s new appointment, which was earlier rumoured to be in the offing, could set stage for a political showdown owing to the graft allegations against her and claims that she enjoys preferential treatment from the ruling coalition.
The spurious nomination of Ms Waiguru to the imagined Office of the President’s Economic Schedule and Agenda, takes effect as from April 1, 2016. Happy Fools Day!
