Uhuru Signs Sh10 Billion Deal with Indian Government in Agriculture

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday signed a Sh10.4 Billion deal with the Indian Government during bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his delegation in New Delhi.

The multibillion pact termed, Line of Credit Agreement, will be directed towards agricultural mechanization in the country.

The two leaders also agreed to work hand-in-hand in order to improve the agricultural sector.

India also promised to support the building of a specialized cancer treatment hospital in Nairobi that would serve Kenya and the region.

It also assured Kenya of increased slots for students who wished to study in India for specialised courses that may not be available in the country.

President Kenyatta pledged to help Kenyans living in India tackle challenges they are experiencing in healthcare, Higher Education and training placement.

On his last day in the South Asian nation, Mr Kenyatta chaired the Kenya-India Business Forum. At the meeting, the President assured investors that Kenya offered a highly conducive business environment.

"We are the third most improved country in the 2016 World Bank Ease of Doing Business. Reforms have been in the areas of starting a business, accessing electricity and registering property. indicators, owing to strong reforms. Also in protecting minority investors and resolving insolvency," he said.
