Uhuru's 'Friend' To be Admitted at Mathari

A court in Nairobi has ordered a man who pleaded guilty to trespassing the State House grounds to be admitted at Mathari Hospital for treatment.

Kadhik Juma Walter who claimed to be President Uhuru Kenyatta's friend, was ordered to undergo mental examination before the hearing set for January 18.

Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo, made the decision despite protests from the accused who claimed that a previous mental assessment was not done well.

"Your honour that assessment was not credible. They only asked me if I could hear strange voices. I request to be returned home to Bungoma where I will be under the care of my family," said the accused.

Magistrate Ogembo dismissed his claims after it was determined that the accused could also not remember the day he came to Nairobi.

Mr Walter, who claimed to be a working citizen, earlier stated that he was “above the law” because of his close relationship with the President.

"Your honour it is not my first time to be there. I have been staying at the football pitch. But this time the police arrested me and when I asked to be taken to the President because he knows me, they refused," he said

Walter was arrested on October 27 by General Service Unit (GSU) officers on State House grounds after he failed to explain how he got into the compound.

Speaking in Court, the accused later confessed that he allegedly snuck in at 10pm through an opening in the fence to find a place to sleep.

Magistrate Ogembo took his confessions into account and gave a directive for Mr Walter to be taken for another mental test before making a ruling.
