Uhuru's Phone Call to Gideon Moi Not to Join Raila, Mudavadi-led NASA

It has now emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta called KANU leader and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and urged him not to join NASA – the National Super Alliance.

A source from Moi's family, who spoke to a local daily on condition of anonymity, disclosed that Uhuru told Gideon "his interests and those of his family were well-taken care off in Jubilee, and not in NASA".

It's believed that Uhuru's call appealed to Moi considering the long relationship the two families have enjoyed for a long time now.

Last week, the Baringo Senator announced that KANU would not join any alliance ahead of the General Election and would instead stick with the MOU it signed with Jubilee after the 2013 Elections.

"KANU respects its obligations and until the expiry of the agreement, we are not in a hurry to get into another political agreement. As far as I am concerned, KANU will honour the existing pact for now," Moi announced in a public forum.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and ODM leader Raila Odinga announced they would form a super alliance in February and had been pushing Moi to join them.

Mudavadi, who has been pushing for the formation of NASA, had been courting Moi with the promise that he would be one of the two deputies if he joined the alliance.

However, NASA seemed to have suffered a setback after Moi's indication that he would not be joining the alliance as earlier thought.

The Opposition has been pushing for the formation of a super alliance which they believe will send the Jubilee administration home.
